Description

Hailing from the rugged, cloud-shrouded peaks of Santa Cruz Barillas, the Las Dueñas Café lot represents both a triumph of remote agriculture and a benchmark for gender equity in Guatemala. Produced by 182 women members of the esteemed ASOBAGRI cooperative, this coffee is grown on small, family-owned plots where the terrain is so steep it has historically isolated and preserved unique indigenous traditions. These producers utilize sophisticated organic practices, such as recycling coffee pulp into nutrient-rich fertilizer, to overcome the logistical challenges of their isolated landscape. Supported by an all-female technical team, the Las Dueñas initiative doesn’t just produce high-quality coffee; it fosters economic resilience through income diversification, ensuring that every bag supports a sustainable and empowered community of female farmers.
